Metaponto
The short plain of
Metaponto (35 km.ca.) is favoured by its optimal territory position. Indeed, being crossed by five rivers (Bradano, Basento, Cavone, Agri and Sinni) and having a temperate climate, it is the richest and most fertile area of the region. For this reason it is called “California of Italy” also for its intensive fruit and vegetables cultivations.
